The Government-Partnership School (G-PS) model is one that promises to deliver a high quality of learning, and bring back enrolment to government schools. This model capitalizes on the opportunity to leverage existing government assets, and the professional experience of high quality non-profit organizations.

Promise of Government-Partnership Schools

In 2015, an independent research conducted by Gray Matters India on the Government-Partnership School Model evaluated 30 Government-Partnership Schools, 19 Government schools and 12 Private Aided schools across urban and rural locations. The study has shown that students from Government-Partnership Schools (G-PS) and Government schools have similar demographic profiles and their parents spend equally on education. Despite this, G-PS Schools achieve improved outcomes:

  • In English and Maths, in both Grade 3 and Grade 5, G-PS students perform better than Government School students
  • Some G-PS model perform at par with schools that serve more affluent families.

Some of the reasons that G-PS schools are able to deliver better outcomes include the following:

  • They follow better classroom practices
  • Progressive methods of learning are used
  • Leaders focus on holistic outcomes
  • They continuously engage with the community
  • Teachers work harder
  • Teachers undergo comprehensive training

This has led to high demand for G-PS Schools.
