The Education Alliance (TEA) is a non-profit organization that warmly welcomes all those who share our passion for providing high-quality education to every child in India. Headquartered in Delhi, we are committed to promoting system reform projects that help to ensure that all children in India have equitable access to quality education.

We support state education departments by deploying highly qualified teams that work with state and non-state actors to co-create solutions to improve the quality of education in government schools. We currently operate in five states (Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand) and are proud to have a dedicated team of 50+ young professionals.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced and visionary leader with 15+ years of expertise in driving large-scale education reform initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge in K-12 public education, including curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessments, and a proven ability to work closely with government departments, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders. Exceptional people management skills are essential, as the role requires leading and mentoring multidisciplinary teams to advance the organization’s mission of transformative education reform. Job Summary:

As the Director of Programs, you will provide senior leadership to drive high-impact education reform initiatives. Leveraging your technical expertise in K-12 education, you will lead the strategy, planning, execution, and monitoring of transformative programs in collaboration with state governments, academic institutions, and implementation partners. Your role will involve offering strategic guidance, building strong stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the effective delivery of reforms that achieve measurable improvements in the education ecosystem and positively impact student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

 

Program Leadership and Strategy

  • Lead the conceptualization and development of high-impact education reform programs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and long-term strategic goals.
  • Bring deep technical knowledge in K-12 education to design evidence-based strategies encompassing curriculum, pedagogy, assessments etc, and systemic reforms.
  • Collaborate closely with state governments, academic institutions, and implementation partners to co-create actionable, scalable, and sustainable education solutions.
  • Anticipate and respond to evolving educational policies and societal challenges, refining strategies to maintain relevance and effectiveness.
  • Actively contribute to organization-wide decision-making and strategic planning to advance organization mission and priorities.

Program Execution and Monitoring

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of state education reform projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and adherence to quality benchmarks.
  • Provide strategic leadership to Program Management Units (PMUs) working with state governments, ensuring effective coordination and execution of initiatives.
  • Establish robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess program impact, ensuring data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic and technical oversight to project teams, ensuring the seamless implementation of complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Act as a problem-solver, addressing challenges proactively and implementing corrective measures to achieve program success.

Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with government departments, civil society organizations, academic institutions, funders, and other key stakeholders to foster collaboration and align efforts.
  • Represent the organization in high-level forums and policy discussions, advocating for evidence-based education reforms and systemic improvements.
  • Forge and maintain relationships with funders and implementation partners to secure resources and ensure program sustainability.
  • Engage stakeholders to incorporate their insights and perspectives into program design and implementation, ensuring relevance and buy-in.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to government officials, providing technical guidance to influence policy and decision-making.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of senior professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Provide clear direction and support to teams, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and fostering professional growth.
  • Optimize resource allocation across teams and projects to maximize efficiency and impact.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and high-performing organizational culture that encourages knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and teamwork.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 15+ years of experience in leading large-scale education reform initiatives in consulting, government, or education sectors.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of K-12 education, including curriculum, pedagogy, assessments, and systemic reforms.
  • Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to design, implement, and manage impactful education programs, focusing on measurable outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled in building and managing relationships with government departments, funders, and partner organizations.
  • People Management: Experience in leading and mentoring multidisciplinary teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Project Management: Strong planning, execution, and monitoring skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in preparing reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Travel and Location: Willingness to frequently travel to state teams for program oversight and stakeholder engagement. This role is based out of Delhi
  • Long-Term Commitment: Willingness to commit to a long-term tenure, with a minimum commitment of 3-4 years at TEA, to foster stability, growth within the organization. 

Salary: 30+ Lakhs per annum

Expected date of Joining: Immediate
