Simple Education Foundation

Simple Education Foundation (SEF) was founded on a simple belief – “where we are born should not decide the course of our destiny. SEF envisions an education that will empower children to build a better tomorrow. Through their whole-school transformation model, SEF is building pathways to re-imagine India’s public education system. Within the SQEP, SEF runs four schools: SDMC Bhim Nagri School since 2017, SDMC Arjun Nagar School since 2018, SDMC Pushp Vihar I and Pushp Vihar II Schools since 2019.

For over 35 years, Vidya has impacted the lives of 3,75,000 people. Vidya’s work enables individuals to dream big, achieve their goals, and create social change they want to see in the world. Building capacity and employability is the ethos of their work. Within the SQEP, Vidya runs three schools – SDMC PTS Colony School since 2016, SDMC Hauz Khas Enclave School and SDMC Sarvapriya Vihar School since 2017.

Peepul

Peepul dreams and works towards creating an education system in India that enables ‘every child to realize his/her potential.’ Peepul works closely with governments at the national, state and corporation levels to transform government schools, and thereby, improve student attainment. Within the SQEP, Peepul runs three schools – SDMC Lajpat Nagar III School since 2015, SDMC Amar Colony School, and SDMC Jeewan Nagar School since 2017.

Katha

Katha

Katha is a globally recognized, non-profit organization, which promotes the joy of reading and the love of books, especially among children living in entrenched poverty. Founded in 1989, Katha is built on the vision that children can be agents of positive socio-cultural change. Katha’s mission is to empower socio-economically disadvantaged children as they read for joy and meaning. Within the SQEP, Katha runs three schools – SDMC Kilokari Tank School since 2016, SDMC Ambedkar Nagar I and Ambedkar Nagar II Schools since 2017.

I Am A Teacher (IAAT)

I Am A Teacher (IAAT) works to build relevant and rigorous practice-based models for teacher education in the country. Their vision is to reform education in India by preparing a critical mass of teachers who are highly capable, passionate, reflective and lead change in and through classrooms. Within the SQEP, IAAT has been running the SDMC Hauz Khas-Police Colony School since 2016.

Deepalaya

Deepalaya

Founded in 1979, Deepalaya’s focus and sole reason for existence is the child, especially the girl child, street child, and disabled child. Deepalaya is on a mission to enable children to become educated, skilled and aware to enjoy a healthy, dignified and sustainable way of life. Within the SQEP, Deepalaya has been running the SDMC Okhla Water Sewage School since 2017.

Akshar Foundation

Akshar Foundation has developed a low-cost model that trains and employs older students as coaches for younger students, through a point-based incentive system. In this model, children learn the value of education and stay in school. Within the SQEP, Akshar has been running the SDMC Lajpat Nagar II School 2019.

Kinship for Humanitarian Social and Holistic Intervention in India (Khushii)

Khushii empowers women and children from poor and marginalized communities to lead an improved life of dignity through education, economic empowerment, and better health facilities. Within the SQEP, Khushii has been running the SDMC Masoodpur School since 2019.

Aasraa Trust

Aasraa works towards empowering street and slum children through education, vocational training nutrition, medical care, and providing shelter homes. Their mission is to level the playing field for children who have neither seen books, not stepped into a school.

Study Hall Educational Foundation

Study Hall Educational Foundation is focused on providing quality education to underprivileged girls and youth in urban and rural India. Their aim is to engage with governmental and non-governmental organizations to work towards policy reform, curricular reform, teacher training programs, school enrichment programs, and other innovative interventions using new technologies.

Gyanshala

Gyan Shala aims to set up a replicable and scalable model to provide good quality basic school education to children from poor and low-income rural and urban families. 

Value Added Partners

SowGood Farming

SowGood is an urban parent initiative to grow a more nature-aware generation through learning farms for children, by children. In the SQEP schools, SowGood works with children to set up learning farms for integrated and sustainable learning.

Entecres Labs

Entecres Labs believes in ‘Learning by Exploring.’ Their mission is to provide teachers with innovative tools to aid students in the acquisition of core STEM knowledge, to apply their knowledge to real-world situations through thought, analysis, problem-solving, evaluation or creativity.

Enabling Leadership

Enabling Leadership is a global for-purpose organization with programs designed to enable children to have experiences and opportunities to learn leadership and life skills. Two of their programs – Music Basti and Just For Kicks- are in the SQEP schools. 

Art of Play

Art of Play works to make sports education a reality for 198 million students in government schools, across India. Their program provides organized sports activities for students so that they can express themselves, think critically, and make decisions.

Anthill Creations

Anthill Creations builds sustainable and low-cost playscapes for children using scrap tyres and industrial waste. Anthill’s playscapes enhance children’s experiences of play by making public spaces accessible, interactive, and educational. 

TAMIL NADU

Madhi Foundation

Madhi’s vision is to partner with governments to design and implement large scale programs in teacher education, curriculum design, academic leadership development, and data governance. Madhi Foundation works with Samagra Shiksha Tamil Nadu to implement the Foundational Learning Improvement Programme (FLIP) across Chennai and Tiruvannamalai districts.

Teach for India (TFI)

Teach for India envisions that one day all children will attain an excellent education. TFI works with Samagra Shiksha, Tamil Nadu, in collaboration with the State teams, to achieve State outcomes.

Vidhya Vidhai

Vidhya Vidhai is a not for profit organization that strives to ensure quality education for every child. Their vision is to impact all state-run government schools across Tamil Nadu.

Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL)

J-PAL’s mission is to reduce poverty by ensuring that policy is informed by scientific evidence, through research, policy outreach and training. Math Games, an innovative game-based Mathematics curriculum developed by psychologists, for pre-school students, is being piloted in UKG and 1st Standard Classes across 50 schools in Tamil Nadu.

Avvai Village Welfare Society

Avvai Village Welfare Society (Avvai) started in 1978 works to enhance equitable and self-sustainable opportunities in areas of education, health, livelihood, gender challenges, and environment, etc. To the marginalized sections, including disaster affected. Avvai’s Hygiene Promotion in Primary Schools (HEPS) is being implemented in Thiruvallur and Perambalur districts.

Sri Aurobindo Society

Sri Aurobindo has been recognized under the Government of India as a charitable organization, research institute, and institute of importance throughout India. In the last 55 years, Sri Aurobindo Society has been working with students and teachers in private schools, and grassroots levels to develop innovative strategies for education improvement. In Tamil Nadu, SAS works across 16 districts, in Zero Investment Innovation for Educational Initiatives, Innovative Pathashala, and Project Inclusion. 

STIR Education

STIR Education is on a mission to support education systems to reignite the intrinsic motivation of teachers, and officials through teacher networks. They envision a world where teachers love teaching and children love learning. Started in Vellore district, in 2019 STIR Education’s program has scaled up to Villupuram and Dharmapuri districts. 

Vidya Sagar

Vidya Sagar, formerly known as the Spastics Society of India – Madras, was started in 1985 to cater to the needs of people with disabilities. With Samagra Shiksha, Vidya Sagar implements the “Ellarum Ellamum” project to improve the quality of inclusion and participation of children with disabilities in government schools across 5 districts in Tamil Nadu. 

Sol’s ARC

Sol’s ARC is a non-profit organization working toward transforming education. Sol’s ARC conducts innovative education research to build inclusive learning content, ensuring every child can learn, and that its innovation will reach the last mile. Sol’s ARC achieves its vision of no child left behind through its schools, therapies, and partnerships.

Room to Read

Room to Read is a non-profit organization for improving literacy and gender equality in education, in the developing world. Founded on the belief that “world change starts with educated children”, the organization works in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations, and governments. Room to Read India’s Literacy Program is the country’s only children’s education program that develops literacy skills and reading habits. 

Sol’s ARC

Sol’s ARC is a non-profit organization working toward transforming education. Sol’s ARC conducts innovative education research to build inclusive learning content, ensuring every child can learn, and that its innovation will reach the last mile. Sol’s ARC achieves its vision of no child left behind through its schools, therapies, and partnerships.

Boston Consulting Group (BCG)

Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has been working with five states, supporting them on systemic, large-scale transformation of their public education system. BCG teams bring unparalleled experience and strategic systems thinking, providing end to end support to Departments of Education on conceptualizing the elements of transformation, designing the different initiatives in a scalable sustainable manner, providing handholding/implementation support, and overall ensuring a mission mode focus and accountability towards the achievement of improved learning outcomes across the organization.
